Learning About Owls
Owls
Part of the second grade science curriculum is a unit on owls. Mrs. Stanley, the Harris Center and the Arts Enrichment teacher combined their talents to teach this unit.
The children told what they already knew about owls.
The children had questions.
Each child chose an owl to research.

The children went on a field trip to the Harris Center.
Susie showed them mounts of owls found in New Hampshire.
Dissecting owl pellets was interesting to everyone.
Scott got to see his choice of the  Great Horned Owl  up close and personal.
After a story and snack the children got to sketch an owl.
These are their finished sketches.
The children wrote rough drafts about their owls.
The children made books with Jeannie and copied their stories into them.
