First Friends Greenfield Preschool
A ConVal School District Integrated Preschool Program
Our Staff First Friend’s Greenfield preschool program is staffed by a teacher whose qualifications exceed New Hampshire’s licensing requirements, and two classroom assistants to provide a high teacher-to-child ratio. Professionals in the fields of speech and language development, occupational therapy, physical therapy, child development and behavior frequently visit our school. They each play a vital role in our program development and the implementation of those programs for all the children. Our Philosophy First Friends Preschool is designed to meet the needs of three and four year old children who are developing typically as well as for those children with special needs. Our quality program is designed to provide enriching experiences for each child. Children learn much from each other. Typically-developing children need to learn that we all have differences for some, certain things are difficult to do while other things are done with ease. Children at First Friends will learn a great deal about patience and understanding. By learning this early in life, we believe they will grow up to be well-adjusted, more compassionate adults. Social/emotional development is an important aspect of our preschool. First Friends’ goal is to teach children to communicate their feelings constructively, to work out their conflicts, and to become socially competent preschoolers. Each child benefits from a program individualized to meet their own specific needs. Planned language activities provide daily enrichment for typical children along with the concepts and vocabulary for our special needs children. Every activity we provide is developmentally appropriate for three and four year olds. Our children learn through active exploration and interaction in an enriching environment so there are many opportunities provided for sociodramatic play, art, music, and movement. Each morning’s activities are designed to develop your child’s language/literacy, cognitive, social/emotional, fine and gross motor, self-care, and independence skills. First Friends’ predictable routine helps your child feel secure and lets all children enjoy a safe place in which to learn and play and grow. Positive guidance and established limits also help each child learn what is expected. |
