These are the Peer Mediators of South Meadow School.
Peer Mediators do a lot in our school. We are the ones who put together Student of the Month Breakfast (invitations, certificates, origami, set-up and cleanup of the breakfast and photo), the end of the year banquet, and we do peer mediations. Mediation is a chance for students in the school to work out any problems they might have with friends in a safe environment. They don't get in trouble and they come out of mediations happy. Mediators help students go through the process, we are not judges and we don't tell them what to do. They have to solve their own issues.
The end of the year banquet, The Appreciation Banquet, is a time when students in Newspaper, Radio, Peer Mediation, Robotics, Web Design, Jazz Band, Select Chorus, All-State Band, All-State Chorus, Student Council, Drama Club, Destination Imagination, Bee Keeping, Environmental Club and other activities are honored for their hard work throughout the school year. They are given certificates and there is a slideshow showing pictures from the year. The entire banquet is run by students. It's a huge achievement. As you can see we do a lot more then just mediations in Peer Mediation.

Students of the Month are students who throughout the month follow the caring, cooperative and respectful motto. They have to show effort in their classes and behave. They have to get at least a two in conduct and effort on their report card. They also have to have at least a C in all parts of their report card. It is a big achievement to be Student of the Month. The Peer Mediators put together a breakfast for them where they get certificates and origami that the mediators have made. The Students of the Month are also honored on the morning announcements where their names are read.
Here are links to pictures of the Students of the months.
