Family Writing Night

On Wednesday, February 20th we had the first of what we hope will be an ongoing Family Writing Night. Our second grade teacher, Mrs. Drogy, has been our resident writer who attended a class in the fall and learned about holding a family writing night.

Here’s how it worked. Parents and children were read a story to give them an idea of what to write about. They had about twenty minutes to write their thoughts in a journal which they then shared with the group just as the students do in class. The entire writing class was about 60 minutes long. This event was a way for the children to see that everyone is a writer, even moms and dads!

The turnout was incredible and with such enthusiasm it's just a matter of time before we hold our next Family Writing Night. See you there.
