Current Events

Fourth graders in our class will be learning about the events happening in the news this year. One of the ways we study current events is by bringing in articles from newspapers or magazines. Your explanation of the article chosen will help the other fourth graders learn about what's going on, not just in Temple, but across New Hampshire and around the world.

Helpful Hints for Choosing a Great Current Event:

  1. Find an article that is both interesting to kids and easy for you to understand.
If you understand it, chances are that your friends will understand it too!
  2. Use scissors to cut it out of the newspaper or magazine. Be neat!
  3. Explain what the article is about to your mom or dad. Ask your parents for help if you're unsure about some of the information.
If the article is too confusing, choose a better one.
  4. Neatly fill out the 3-2-1 Current Event sheet with:
    The Headline of the Article
The Name of the Newspaper or Magazine
    3 Facts You Learned
2 Questions You Could Ask the Writer of the Article
1 Main Idea of the Article
  5. Bring both the sheet and the article to school and be ready to explain what you've learned.
